Why patients choose us

Orthodontics, delivered the way real life actually works.

This practice has straightened teeth in Whitehorse since 1991 and Dr. Nagamatsu has been practicing here for sixteen years. What has not changed is the thing that makes it work here: treatment planned around real distances, real schedules, and a straight answer about what you actually need.

  • A Certified Specialist in Orthodontics

Dr. Nagamatsu completed a three year orthodontic residency and a Master of Science in Dentistry after dental school. Orthodontics is our specialty!

  • Built around the drive

Longer appointments, wider intervals, siblings booked on the same day. Where you live shapes the plan from the first visit, not as an afterthought.

  • Every appliance, one roof

Metal braces, clear braces and clear aligners from several systems. We recommend the one your bite needs rather than the one the practice happens to stock.

  • The cost, in writing

A fixed, itemised fee, interest-free monthly plans, and a coordinator who handles the insurance paperwork with you.

Treatments

Braces you can see, braces you cannot, and aligners that come out for dinner.

Clear aligners at Whitehorse Orthodontics
01

Clear Aligners

A series of clear, removable aligners that straighten your teeth without brackets or wires. We work with several aligner systems and choose the one that fits your case. You take them out to eat, brush and floss normally, and most people around you will never notice you are in treatment.

Metal Braces at Whitehorse Orthodontics
02

Metal Braces

The most proven appliance in orthodontics, and far more comfortable than the braces you remember. High-grade stainless steel brackets and light archwires move teeth predictably, with coloured elastics if you want them.

03

Clear Ceramic Braces

Ceramic brackets in a translucent, tooth-toned material that blends into your smile instead of standing out against it. They work exactly like metal braces and are usually placed on the upper front teeth, where visibility matters most.

Early Treatment for Children at Whitehorse Orthodontics
04

Early Treatment for Children

A first orthodontic check around age seven, and interceptive treatment only when it will genuinely change the outcome. Guiding jaw growth at the right moment can create room for crowded teeth and avoid extractions or surgery later.

Orthodontics for Teens at Whitehorse Orthodontics
05

Orthodontics for Teens

The classic age for braces, done in a way teenagers actually cooperate with. Metal, clear or aligners, plus straight answers about how long it will take, what they can eat, and how to keep hockey and band from getting in the way.

Orthodontics for Adults at Whitehorse Orthodontics
06

Orthodontics for Adults

One in five orthodontic patients is now over twenty-one. Whether you never had treatment, stopped part-way through, or your teeth have shifted over the years, adult treatment is discreet, comfortable and quicker than most people expect.

What happens

From first appointment to retainers, with no surprises in between.

    Complimentary consultation

A full examination and a straight answer about whether you need treatment at all. No referral required, and no charge for the visit.

  2. 02

    Records and a written plan

Digital scans and radiographs, then every suitable option set out side by side with its duration, its trade-offs and its cost.

  3. 03

    Fitting day

Around an hour in the chair, plus time to go through cleaning, food and what to do if something comes loose.

  4. 04

    Reviews through treatment

Every six to twelve weeks depending on the appliance, scheduled around school, work and the drive in.

  5. 05

    Off, and held there

Appliances removed, teeth polished, and retainers fitted the same day so the result you paid for stays put.

Orthodontist reviewing a treatment plan with a patient
We would rather tell you that your child needs nothing done for another two years than start treatment that would have gone better later. That is the whole basis of how this practice works.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot.

Still wondering about something? Call (867) 668-4406 and speak to someone in the practice.

  • Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No. You can book an orthodontic consultation directly with us. We will keep your family dentist informed throughout treatment, and we work closely with dentists across the region.

  • What does the first appointment cost?

Nothing. Your initial consultation is complimentary, including the examination and our recommendation. You will not be asked to commit to anything at that visit.

  • At what age should my child first be seen?

Around seven. Most seven-year-olds need nothing done, but that is the age at which the small number of children who genuinely benefit from early treatment become identifiable.

  • We live several hours away. Is treatment realistic?

Yes, and a good part of our practice is exactly that. Tell us where you are travelling from at the consultation and we will build the plan around it, using appliances that need fewer adjustment visits and grouping family members on one day.

  • How much does orthodontic treatment cost?

It depends on what needs correcting and which appliance you choose, so we will not quote a number before examining you. What we will do is give you a fixed, itemised fee in writing before anything begins, along with the monthly payment options.
