Metal Braces
The most proven appliance in orthodontics, and far more comfortable than the braces you remember. High-grade stainless steel brackets and light archwires move teeth predictably, with coloured elastics if you want them.
A series of clear, removable aligners that straighten your teeth without brackets or wires. We work with several aligner systems and choose the one that fits your case. You take them out to eat, brush and floss normally, and most people around you will never notice you are in treatment.
Clear aligners move your teeth with a series of clear, custom-made trays instead of brackets and wires. We work with several aligner systems and choose the one that suits your case, rather than fitting every patient to a single brand. Each set is worn for a week or two, shifts the teeth a fraction of a millimetre, and is then swapped for the next one in the series.
The appeal is obvious the first time you take them out for lunch. There is nothing bonded to your teeth, nothing to break, and no list of foods you have to give up for two years. For patients flying or driving in from out of town, the fact that a set of aligners can be sent home with you matters just as much.
It is not the right answer for every bite. Severe rotations, large gaps to close and significant skeletal discrepancies are still handled better with fixed braces, and we will tell you plainly if that is your case rather than sell you the appliance you asked for.
The aligners are clear and fit closely to the teeth. Most patients tell us colleagues never noticed until treatment was finished.
Out to eat, out to brush and floss, out for a game or a performance. Your oral hygiene stays exactly as it was before treatment.
Progress happens at home with each new tray. That means longer gaps between appointments, which is the difference between doable and impossible if you drive in from out of town.
A digital scan turns into a simulation of how your teeth will move. You approve the finish line before a single aligner is made.
A full examination, digital scan and radiographs, so we can say whether aligners will genuinely get you the result you want.
We map every movement and show you the projected outcome. You will also get the number of aligners, the expected duration and the cost in writing.
Small tooth-coloured attachments are placed where the aligners need extra grip, and we fit and check the first set with you.
Twenty to twenty-two hours a day, a new set every one to two weeks, and a review appointment every six to ten weeks.
Most cases end with a short refinement stage to perfect the detail, then retainers to hold the result for good.
Most cases run twelve to eighteen months. Minor corrections can finish in six; complex ones take longer. You will be given a specific estimate from your own scan before you commit to anything.
Twenty to twenty-two hours. Take them out to eat and to clean your teeth, and put them straight back in. Consistent wear is the single biggest factor in finishing on time.
There is pressure and mild tenderness for a day or two after each new set. That is the tooth moving. Most people find it noticeably gentler than the first week of fixed braces.
Some patients notice a slight lisp for the first few days while the tongue adjusts. It passes quickly, and reading aloud for a few minutes each evening speeds it up.
Tell us at the consultation. We plan aligner cases for travelling patients with several sets issued at once and longer intervals between reviews, so you make far fewer trips into town.
The most proven appliance in orthodontics, and far more comfortable than the braces you remember. High-grade stainless steel brackets and light archwires move teeth predictably, with coloured elastics if you want them.
Ceramic brackets in a translucent, tooth-toned material that blends into your smile instead of standing out against it. They work exactly like metal braces and are usually placed on the upper front teeth, where visibility matters most.
A first orthodontic check around age seven, and interceptive treatment only when it will genuinely change the outcome. Guiding jaw growth at the right moment can create room for crowded teeth and avoid extractions or surgery later.
Bring us your questions and we will tell you honestly whether aligners will do the job for your bite.
